Since Enzo joined Manchester City, the team has won both matches he’s featured in — a Premier League fixture and a Champions League one. Neither opponent was top-tier, and Enzo clearly still needs some time to settle in fully, but the encouraging part is how well he’s played in an attacking sense in both games — showing exactly the value City signed him for: his passing and link-up play, which is already building good chemistry with the club’s top scorer, Haaland.

In the first match, the only goal wasn’t directly assisted by Enzo — but the pre-assist that set up the actual assist was all his. It was a through ball that showed off his technique and vision in full: a precise pass on the right that split the opposition defense and rolled toward the byline at exactly the right pace for winger Semenyo to run onto unmarked, cross it in, and find Haaland’s head in the box.

In the second match, Enzo got his first genuine assist for City. Picking up the ball just inside the box on the left, he barely broke stride before curling a right-footed chip up toward Haaland — who used his frightening physicality to muscle through the aerial duel and head it home.

Those two assists — one from the right, one from the left — say a lot about Enzo’s range, and his ability to pick out a pass and set one up from either side of the pitch. In the front line right now, Cherki handles the dribbling and take-on work, while Enzo takes care of the off-ball runs forward and the distribution and organization from deeper, which frees Cherki up further forward. His partnership with the current first-choice defensive midfielder, Anderson, looks solid too — Anderson’s running covers most of the defensive coverage and mopping-up duties, which lets Enzo push forward more aggressively and put his passing to work.
The player who’s paying the price for this so far looks like O’Reilly, who started the first two matches. He’s currently out injured, and it’s looking increasingly hard for him to win his starting spot back from Enzo once he’s fit again.
